The Palms House

An inward-looking family home defined by calmness, privacy and a timeless material palette, shaped around light and landscape.

The Palms House occupies the quieter, inward portion of a subdivided corner site, positioned behind The Quiet House. Sheltered from surrounding streets, the site offers a calm and private setting, allowing the architecture to adopt a more inward-looking and settled residential character.

Responding to the client’s preference for a light and timeless aesthetic, the house is composed using pale timber, light stone and soft rendered surfaces. These materials are deliberately understated, selected for their longevity and ability to age gracefully over time.

The plan is organised around a series of internal courtyards, bringing natural light deep into the home while maintaining privacy. These spaces introduce landscape into daily living, creating moments of openness, filtered sunlight and visual connection to the outdoors without compromising enclosure.

Measured in scale and restrained in expression, The Palms House prioritises comfort, clarity and long-term liveability. It is a calm family home shaped by light, material restraint and a quiet relationship with its site.
